Chalkboard Art ~ Finished

Here we go...this is how my project ended up but just to be sure.... I thought I would just sleep on it and see how I felt about it in the morning ~ It's only chalk right?

I wonder If Dana Tanamachi does that? Hmmm

Just as a reminder this was my original graphic design ….about 1/2 way through... I do like the banner and Dana uses lots of banners in her work and this is the final project...the next morning, I removed the little knives I had added, re-worked the area where the banners was and enlarged the lettering on "petit cafe"

I put my basket of bread boards underneath it but it just needed something a bit higher.  I have a nice little collection of old bottles that I use for vinegars and oil for cooking. This is a great little bamboo shelf...a nice size for a smallish space...so I gave it a try here, a few little dishes, some fresh lemons and an old baguette basket on the chalk shelf

Here is a little peek of the kitchen with the new chalkboard...

This little sign below reads:

the daily bread

petit cafe

olives

cheese

champagne

open daily

I hope you give this a try....it is so much more fun than spelling and arithmetic.

Cheers

Kelley

Light, Airy and Relaxed

Light, airy and relaxed apartment in Gothenburg, Sweden

To complete the week, a Swedish home in Gothenburg currently for sale through Alvhem. It's white, white, white with a touch of colour and funkiness here and there (cue vintage suitcases, resident bike and green splashback) and represents many of the things I love about Swedish apartment interior design; it's light, airy and relaxed.

Romantic style ~ lounging in the garden house

Saturday’s “Designing with Vintage” with Gail Smith-Peterson

Romantic style...lounging in the garden house

When I think of romantic style, it’s more of a feeling to me. This vintage garden house is a favorite place to be in the afternoon. The natural light coming in from the west is beautiful, it washes the white weathered wood in a warm glow.

Roses are symbolic for romance. The pale pink petals are delicately ruffled. These are from my garden.

I love these hearts just hanging in a cluster layered together, they might hint ...I’m falling for you.

Sentiments of a heart shaped candle in the palest pink, returns each year to be lit for only a short while every Valentines.

My favorite vintage latte bowl with two biscotti's to share, layered beneath with pretty squares of pink floral fabric samples.

The scent of almond biscotti's dipped with chocolate paired with an antique garden rose is like perfume!

This vintage European campaign bed is white and weathered to perfection! My newest vintage find. Stuffing a feather bed in a pale pink vintage European duvet is lounging simple lounging 101!

I hope you enjoyed these simple design tips for creating romantic style. Have a romantic valentines weekend...

My design tip: Use your senses to create a romantic space.

Pieces Of February

The best part about market found vintage or antique pieces is that it brings charm and sometimes even brings a quirky element to your home depending on what you find.  Create your own look by selecting pieces that you bound with, you'll know it when you see it.

Be inspired! It's February, whether you're in snow or sun you can find your favorite vintage or antique object at second shout out - it's a click away.
