Vintage Style ~ Designing with Vintage
“Designing with Vintage” ~ Gail Smith-Peterson
Designing a new build, or renovating an existing home or space I always love to create something unique. I am always on the hunt for that perfect one of a kind piece that I can feature in a space. It immediately adds warmth and character and a sense of nostalgia.

I found this tall set of European Antique doors, fell in love with them but there was just one problem the height was 11’. They were scaled down and the transom adjusted to fit at 10’ and new glass was put in. I needed an impressive entry to the two master suites. I loved the patina and kept it in tact. A replica of the original hand carved detail was made for the bottom panel of the doors (the original had cracked and was fragile).

Loving the grand entry doors they had the French farm house feel I needed...I was inspired to have the interior doors replicated to match of solid Alder, heavy and substantial. Complete with vintage ball bearing hinges. They creek like old doors and are great for scaring the little guests!

My Design tip: Defining the architectural style is important; it keeps you focused when you’re searching for Vintage elements for your projects.
You can see the original space before... A lovely transformation from 1970’s Mediterranean to French Farm House!

Have a beautiful Saturday...I Hope you find something vintage over the weekend!

Gail
