Fluffing with Flowers ~ Vintage Floral Designs

June is my absolute favorite month of the year. Not only do we usually get a bit of sunshine after a long, grey Northwest winter, but some of my favorite flowers are at their peak this month. While my garden looks fresh and ready to explode with color at any moment, I try to refrain from plundering my small backyard treasure trove of hydrangeas, snow balls, and peonies.

Instead, I head to my local farmers market and surround myself with fragrant color in just about every room of the house. Granted, the prices and selection aren’t as amazing as I would find at the Dutch flower markets, but this is the one month of the year that I let myself indulge in an armful of blooms.

Peonies currently grace my mantle – such a gorgeous shade of pink:

And because they’re my all-time favorite flower, there are more peonies on the dining room table (contained in a pretty French enamel pitcher):

The kitchen is perked up with hydrangeas while snap dragons sit at my bedside:

And Trader Joe’s is my go-to place for orchids like this one:

Whether it’s a touch of spring fever or the Dutch blood running through my veins, I simply can’t get enough flowers to fluff and feather my nest with this month!

De groetjes!
