Summer is just around the corner which means long, warm lazy nights. You start hoping for just enough breeze to keep the house cool so you can sleep and the best place often is a fully screened sleeping porch. They built these on homes before the days of air conditioning and many older homes still have them.

If you are lucky enough to have a sleeping porch enjoy your summer nights in comfort.

The Hermes orange is my favorite color and was even as a child. The boxes have always been a great way to add a punch of color to interiors. I know this is old news now, but to be honest I'm in a rush today and wanted to post something! So! should you happen to have an Hermes box kicking around somewhere, here are a couple ideas of how you can incorporate them into your own vignettes. From a single box to an excessive amount! Happy Tuesday

Saturday’s “Designing with Vintage” with Gail Smith-Peterson
Vintage Iron, perfect for Lounging ~ Lounging is a pure luxury! Rarely do we set out to lounge the day away... Everyone is so busy, I think we forgot how to Lounge!

Well maybe I can refresh your memory! This vintage iron campaign is one of my favorite pieces. It sits in my garden house and folds up when I’m not using it. A large down pillow, some pretty vintage linens and it is ready.

This French day bed is lovely and unexpected tucked against the porch wall.

I love how this iron bed is nestled on a stone balcony...You can almost feel the summer breeze!

Looks like this one is prepared for a cool evening.

Perhaps this iron bed is on a farm house porch... After a day in the garden this would be the perfect place to rest ..

When you want only blue sky and a long nap...you might like this!
My design tip: A lounge space can be inside or outside, doesn’t have to fancy, just comfortable. You can personalize with what makes you relax.

I come from a rich heritage gifted to me by my parents. They blessed me with three cultures and traditions and to this day I cherish each of them sometimes feeling part of one a whole of another and sometimes none of them. Today in the Nederlands is the holiday Koninginnedag also Known as Queens Day. We said good-by to a Queen and hello to our new King, the first in over 100 years. If my dad was still with us he would celebrate with a shot or two of Jenever and sport a bit of orange. So, to honor my dad’s memory, the heritage he left me and the crowning of a new king we are going to check out some serious orange.

Crushed velvet chair & Paint it orange

How my dad and I saw the Nederlands the first time he took me & Bring it inside from outside

Don’t be afraid of color in the kitchen & How could you not be happy sitting here

Why talk on a black one when you can talk on an orange one

Indoor Fortes with Saturday’s “Designing with Vintage” with Gail Smith-Peterson
I remember as a child making fortes don’t you? A space that made you feel like you were somewhere else. Being able to create that space inside the house so that it would stay up took a little design skill too!

This forte is more my style these days...
I loved this move, here is a favorite scene from “The Holiday”.The adults lay with the girls in the forte, together they chat and giggle with each other while looking up into the pretty twinkle lights and stars.

Love this one in a loft space. It looks so cozy.

This one looks easy to make, it could be stored away and brought out anytime!

These are precious, just like the moments that are spent making them. Don’t wait for a rainy day to make an indoor forte, any day will be perfect! Just make sure you take lots of photos!
My design tip: Take out some of your vintage linens. Use pretty vintage sheets layered some with lace table cloths on top. Old vintage blankets and quilts to snuggle with. Battery operated candles and some twinkle lights in between the sheets would be perfect.
Hope you have a beautiful weekend and take time for some old fashion FUN!!!

Fresh Dairy ~ loving these vintage dairy jars in this very cool vintage crate that I found and had to have...
I picked up this great vintage metal crate
it's filled with 20 little glass jars most likely for cream or yogurt

but I think this makes a perfect little container for just picked spring flowers
dairy fresh from the garden

The sun is coming out more and more often and the garden is begging for some TLC as flowers bloom between those random weeds that don’t want to miss out on the beautiful spring weather either. Maybe if we add some fun vintage finds in the garden shed it might be more fun to come to terms with the weeds and encourage the flowers and veggies.

Bottle caddy & Pots and windows

Crate storage & The perfect potting table
Oh, now off to the garden to give it the TLC it deserves.
